Top tips

Buy your ticket sooner rather than later
The Summer Ball has a maximum capacity so make sure you get your ticket early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are selling really fast and this year’s Ball is looking to be the biggest one yet!

Warm it up
We recommend that ladies bring something to wrap up in – it can get chilly at 2am outside of the marquees even in June!

Don’t lose your ticket!
You will need to show your ticket at the entrance, if you don’t have a ticket, you won’t be allowed in. The Summer Ball site has a strict maximum capacity so if you lose your ticket or it is stolen, we cannot issue you with a replacement as your ticket may be used by someone else to get into the Summer Ball.

Keep up to date
Keep checking www.cardiffuniversityballs.com and sign up for the online newsletter for information on competitions, updates and new offers as they are announced.

Meeting points
There’s a designated meeting point at the Summer Ball so it’s a really good idea to check this out when you arrive. It’s pretty difficult to get through to friends on their mobile when they’re partying in one of the big marquees – by having a meeting point you know where to find each other if you get separated – texts are often the best way to get in touch at the Ball.

No pain no gain?
Remember this is an eight hour event so ladies, choose your footwear wisely. Also bear in mind that on parts of the Summer Ball site you may have to walk over grass so spiky heels aren’t recommended!

Suits you sir
Should you require a suit for the evening, you can hire one from Moss Bros. Visit their store at 19-21 Morgan Arcade or Tel: 02920 388 286

Show me the money
There won’t be cash machines on site and the bars don’t accept cards so make sure you’ve got plenty of money with you before you arrive at the ball. Drinks will be reasonably priced and the bar tariff will be published in advance so you can budget accordingly.

Get home safely
Cooper’s Field is walking distance for most of you, but please make sure you don’t walk home alone. North Road is a very busy road even at 2am so please use the subways underneath to get across. It may seem like a good idea at the time to run across the road (especially after a few drinks), but no one wants to end the night in hospital so stay safe and follow the footpath. And remember, take care of each other!

Taxi!
If you do need to get a taxi home, there will be a designated Summer Ball taxi rank next to the Museum. Please access this via the subway that runs under North Road.

Weather
The Summer Ball has seen all kinds of weather over the last few years (this is Britain after all!). We’ve never had to cancel the ball, but if you are concerned on the 13th, check www.cardiffuniversityballs.com and the Facebook group for announcements.

Food and Drink
There will be plenty of bars at the Summer Ball and drinks will be reasonably priced. The bar tariffs will be published in advance to help you budget your cash for the evening. Food will also be available on site at a cost, but we advise you to eat a good, healthy meal before you set off from home.
